Baker & McKenzie was founded over 60 years ago as a global firm. Today the Firm has offices in 26 of the world's 30 largest economies, those economies contributing more than 85 percent of the world's GDP. As a trainee you will regularly work with colleagues across the Firm at all levels. You will gain practical first-hand experience of working on multi-jurisdictional projects for universally recognised household brands. We also offer secondments to trainees enabling you to gain valuable experience from working overseas.
As a major global law firm we work for high-quality international clients, including venture capitalists and investment banks, on large multi-national transactions. The quality of our client base is a key strength of Baker & McKenzie. Our strategy is to provide clients with a unique combination of local and global expertise. Our history of working on cross-border projects and advising multi-national organisations is reflected in our client base. Because of our global history, size and spread, we understand our clients' industries, cultures and goals.
Current trainees have used the words 'personable', 'open', 'friendly' and 'diverse' to describe our culture. In essence it is founded upon respect for each other. The diversity of the Firm also has an impact on the kind of creative commercial advice we provide. Because we have such a diverse mix of people from different backgrounds and cultures, we can draw on our range of experiences, knowledge and perspectives to ensure we are as agile as possible with our clients. The Firm's Diversity Committee works to ensure we promote diversity and inclusion for all employees.
London is Baker & McKenzie's largest office globally. It plays a pivotal role in the global Baker & McKenzie network and coordinates many of our multi-jurisdictional transactions. However, the office is of a size where trainees will never feel anonymous. There is a team culture across our 12 key practice areas so relationships are easily established and developed through client work, training and social events.
Being commercial and pragmatic underpins our approach to clients which in turn drives our development programme for trainees. Much of your training and ongoing development is geared to enabling you to be an incisive yet practical lawyer. At every stage of your career, our focus is on helping you make the most of your strengths, of your experience and your expertise. We have the time and resources to provide the highest levels of support to you, against the auspices of a major global law firm.
